Just out of curiosity, which kind of law is easiest to get a job after graduation?

I obviously left out certain types. (Biglaw/academia/IP/etc.)

Please explain your reasoning.

I vote immigration law because most of the work you can get are helping to fill out forms and follow procedures. USCIS practices are fairly standarized and you can make decent money just helping people out with submitting the right stuff. I believe family law is pretty hard because most of them involve court appearances and connections to your court is super important to be able to do well. I am only a 1L but had extensive experience dealing with practitioners in both areas.

I'm not seeing the private practice distinction-you could theoretically go into private practice within any of the listed fields. But I think private practice is the easiest, by which I mean, it's not difficult to rent an office and establish a professional association (or PLLC, LLP, whatever). The hard part is...developing a book of business and actually knowing wtf you're doing.

Family court is depressing as hell. I shadowed a local trial court judge in high school, and it's just absolutely miserable. I felt less depressed watching sexual assault and murder trials.

Tax, Immigration, Crim and Family Law are all somewhat realistic fields to pursue out of school, the rest are not.

Do you even understand how lawyers operate?
Biglaw isn't a type of law (neither are academia/IP for that matter) but a type of job.
(all the types of law listed can be done in a biglaw environment)

What about international energy law? That can't be done in a biglaw environment!

I actually know someone who worked on cross-border green energy project with a biglaw firm, so yes, it is possible.
(I consider myself lucky that coincidentally I know of this. My former boss left our company specifically to work on environmental/green energy matters. The point to remember is: when a company is going to invest $100 million or more, said company will always get outside {biglaw} legal opinions)

Just messing with you. Obviously firms can and do handle pretty much every facet of the law.

He's right you know. The migratory birds act makes no sense. There's good money in figuring it out.

This. The MBTA is a complete disaster and is becoming more important (because of wind farms) every day.
