Traditional vs Non-traditional grading systems

Any advantages/disadvantages to a HH/H/P/F system compared to letter grades? I'm especially interested if someone has transferred and experienced both.

The main advantage is you don't really have to worry about fine distinctions about grades. It is pretty nice knowing that if you don't know the material that well, you probably will get a P along with ~60% of the class, and not say a B- or something.

Disadvantage is that employer's don't like it nearly as much because it's harder to determine class rank (more so at some schools such as Yale and Stanford than at others, such as Harvard).
