LSAC GPA

I'm aware that your LSAC GPA and cum. GPA will differ, but I just have a question of how LSAC handles this situation. I've heard that if you take a class and then retake it that you're grade on LSAC for that class will be lower than what you got the 2nd time taking it. What i'm wondering is, does this apply to classes that you withdrew from and then retook or just classes that you finished, weren't satisfied with the grade you got, then took it again.

For instance would these two instances be considered the same to LSAC's grading?

I take calculus, get a C, I'm not happy with that, I retake the class next semester.

I take calculus, withdraw, I retake the class next semester.

I believe it also depends on how your school treats the withdraw as well. I don't know the details, but withdraws under certain circumstances can lower your LSAC GPA.

Yeah I know, I just wanted to make sure the classes I withdrew from and then retook didn't get treated the same as finishing the class, getting a grade, and then retaking it.

Plus you can't retake C's. You have to get a D or lower at most institutions to retake for a chance at a higher grade.

Does LSAC count all withdraws as failing? I've withdrawn from 2 classes in college (in total) and m transcript just shows a W since I dropped before a specific date (when it shows W-failing) How will they count this? I'm afraid they will butcher me for those.

fwiw, I was in the same situation. The Ws didn't affect my LSAC gpa, because they weren't punitive. You just need to find out if your Ws are punitive; if they aren't, awesome, if they are, your GPA will take a hit.
