Will this be a big deal?

Okay, so I accidentally e-signed one of my apps with the date 1/17/2011 instead of 1/17/2012. I don't know what happened, but for some reason the date changed to 2011.

Should I notify the school/would my application be turned away because the signature isn't valid/will this affect my chances of getting in to that specific school?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm kind of freaking out at the moment.

Email admissions. tell them the lowdown. easy peasy.

But word of advice: write it short, simple, and don't say a lame "oh it somehow changed to last year's date". You made a typo, cop to it. 2 sentence e-mail to them, tops, asking if you need to do anything further to rectify it. Leave out any emotional writing like you are so sorry or you are so stressed out and freaking out.

in the grand scheme of things no one will care. the signature mostly only matters if something is challenged in your essay, say you were caught lying. the application is considered signed, so you can't cop out of the deception.

Personally I'd just ignore it. They likely will too.

Wow. You guys on this forum are super responsive. I really do appreciate all of the advice.

I went with nsbane's suggestion (primarily because I saw it first before the others) and just wrote a 2 sentence email informing them of the incorrect date, and asked if it was still valid or if they would like additional documentation with the correct date.

I'm worried I may have pointed out carelessness in my application for no reason, that I doubt they would have noticed anyways, but I agree with nsbane, I don't think in the grand scheme of things it will matter too much.

No, you're boned. In fact, you might be arrested for fraud. You can kiss law school goodbye. They don't let defrauders like you in.

I signed one with my DOB, which was in 1981. If they saw it, I'm guessing they are a little confused.
