GPA Addendum Q

Post by Capitalist » Mon Dec 19, 2011 5:16 pm

So I screwed around my first two years and had a pretty crummy GPA. I completed 80+ hours in my final two years w/ ~3.8 GPA. My LSAC GPA is ~3.3. Would it be inappropriate in a GPA addendum to request that they focus more on my GPA over my final two years instead of my lower LSAC GPA when considering my application?

Thanks and good luck to all this admissions cycle!

Do you have a solid reason for why this upward trend occured?

It depends on the REASON your GPA was bad those first two years. Driving home to be caretaker for a dying parent: yes. Was stupid stupid and immature for two years: no. Was diagnosed with depression/diabetes/leukemia that has since been cured/controlled: yes. Switched majors from physics to basket weaving because it was too hard: iffy.

I don't think there's any way to frame "it took me two years longer than most people to get my shit together" in a positive way.

Credited, no addendum necessary for this.

So should I not include an addendum at all or just not ask them to focus more on my GPA my final two years?
