How bad do you suppose it would look if you take the LSAT 3 times?

Depends on whether your scores go up, or stay the same, or go down. I think 150 --> 160 --> 170 would show that you have commitment and talent. 150 --> 153 --> 155 would tell law schools that you might not be cut out for law.

Outside of YS, I doubt it will have a noticeable impact. The ABA's requirement that law schools report the highest score creates a very strong incentive for these schools to focus solely on the highest score.

I took it 3 times and it really shot up the last time. It seems like the high score really is the one they take into account, as I've been getting good responses from schools!

Would you mind sharing your scores? I feel I am going to be a mid 150's performer honestly which is why I am worried.

Mine were 154, then something embarrassingly low (lower than 154), then 161.

I went 152->166->177 and I really think schools are considering me a 177.

YS stands for Yale/Stanford. They are ranked high enough, and their entering class size is small enough, to have the luxury of averaging.

155-158-164...although I don't have any decisions yet to tell if it made a difference, but i highly doubt it will. Schools will probably just give a shit about that 164.

i took it three times, i don't think it had any impact on my cycle at all. like others have said, i think only like harvard and yale will count it against you.
on a slightly unrelated note, i should say that all the "retake" responses that come up on here are 95% of the time good advice. i know people dont want to hear it after studying hard for the LSAT and receiving a score they are disappointed with, but looking at where i am now and looking back to my decision to retake for the third time, i can tell you it was worth it a billion times over.
come to think of it... unless you have an LSAT score that will allow you to get into a T6, EVERYONE should be retaking the LSAT until they are no longer allowed to...
