How long should the battery life on a laptop be to be sufficient for law school use (i.e. exams)?

Not in every classroom at every school. Since I'm a 1L I haven't taken any exams but I would assume at least for exams they would provide outlets.

@OP: If it's for exams, I would assume it's a non-issue (see above). However if it is for notes then there is a chance you end up in a room without outlets. If it's just one class then almost any laptop can handle it, but if it's two classes in a row then it might be an issue. Personally I would want 3 hours (my current laptop barely lasts through the single 1.5 hour class I have that doesn't have outlets). Note that worst comes to worst you can always buy an external battery.

I have attended two law schools. Never had a problem finding an outlet in class or exams (spaced out more for exams so even if the school has limited outlets you should be ok).

Law school exams are usually 3 hours. Some are 4 hours long. If you are truly worried that you might attend a school without an outlet for exams (not sure if they exist), then get a laptop that will last you about 4 hours.
