I was curious what/where are you limited to teaching with a JD? i had a professor back in community college who held a JD and taught Business Law, so this kind of sparked my interest.

My poli sci professor at community college had a JD as his only graduate degree - but he was only an adjunct.

A professor at my T50 undergrad teaches Law of Mass Communications (1st Amendment Law, basically), and runs a center at the school to that end, but he was also a journalist before law school and worked on first amendment issues before teaching.

I had three professors with JDs at my undergrad. One was a con law professor at a local law school who taught law related political science classes at my school as a visiting professor, one was a practicing attorney who was a visiting professor, and the third had a JD/PhD and used to work at a big firm, but hated it and is now using his PhD to teach history, law, and sociology classes.

Tax law & accounting courses. Also employee benefits courses for both college courses & professional designations. Debate & litigation.

I have no proof but I will venture to say that it is probably extremely hard to land one of these positions with merely a JD. You will need something else to make it work (another degree, work experience, etc)

Depends upon the school. Some pay trivial amounts for adjuncts.

You could probably teach history or government in a prep school.

I had a prof with a JD/Ph. D in Poli Sci and he taught Con Law. and a few other Poli Sci classes. He never practiced and just taught right after getting his degrees. He was a badass too so it is smart to be like him. I had an adjunct who was the county attorney too for a Criminal Law class. Fun guy as well.

I had three professors in ug who had JDs. One taught Con Law, one taught Juv. Delinquency plus a few other criminal justice courses that I didn't take, and the third taught African American history but he also had a PhD in Sociology.

I've got a friend whose HS government teacher had a JD. TBH I'd probably rather do that than be an adjunct or prof. at a CC.

I also had a HS government teacher who had a JD!

I had 2 professors with JDs. 1 graduated from Columbia Law but he didn't want to be a lawyer. He came to this conclusion during his law school years. He is teaching history. Another graduated from Chicago and was a lawyer for few years (also wrote LSAT questions for couple of years). He is now teaching Shakespeare literature.
