I think everyone would be interested in learning about the amount of coursework assigned in various T-14 schools. If anyone wants to help me (and countless others) out by disseminating this information, please respond to this thread with the approximate amount of hours of homework that you and your classmates do per week.

it wil vary greatly by professor and by school, and by the individual student. Some students take forever to get through the assigned work, while others dont. Some professors assign a ton of work, and others do not ( especially in Legal Research and Writing) Mostly, time considerations depend on the student, where they study, how engaged they are, and their ability to pick out the pertinent information. Some students spend literally 10 hours doing the next days' assignments, while others get done with it in an hour or 3.

If you are trying to decide what school to apply to, i dont think this information will help, or should be used in the process, for the reasons stated above. If you are in school, i would strongly suggest that you stop worrying about what others are doing, and how long it takes them to do it. YOu should know what works for you, so stick with that.

Each individual answer is going to vary a lot.

Princeton review does a survey each year that tries to capture this information, but I would take it with a grain of salt: http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog ... rev-2.html

Thanks for this information. I personally am a workoholic but not brilliant, so think I would have a better chance to outcompete the competition at a T-14 whose student body is shorter on work ethic.

This seems like a poor way to make a school choice. At every school, some kids live in the library, some live at the bars. Go where you can get in that will give you the employment opportunities you want. Then work hard

"A T-14 whose student body is shorter on work ethic" doesn't exist.

If it did, it would be the splitter friendly schools.

"shorter" is a relative term.

Maybe. But law school "work" is much different than undergraduate "work". Think "memorization & regurgitation" versus "understanding & creativity".

P.S. I know that shorter is a relative term, but "work ethic" in law school differs from undergraduate work ethic. Long hours of law school study does not assure high class rank.

This is true, but I've routinely been impressed by some of my classmates' notetaking and organization. For all I know, they're splitters too, but that's pretty alien to me. I wish I was as naturally organized as it seems they are.

@acrossthelake: To which post are your comments directed ? I agree with you if your comments are aimed at the OP.

@Kabuo: It's hard to appreciate until you go through the experience.

My section has two graded midterm exams, while other sections have one or none. This has drastically increased my workload relative to my peers. You just can't do this by school.

Disagreed. I feel like a splitter friendly school is going to have a disproportionately large amount of gunners looking to distinguish themselves/making up for shitting off in UG.

Maybe extreme splitters. I doubt the people who are barely splitters feel "I don't belong" pressure.

Fair enough. I guess no T-14 really takes such extreme splitters like WUSTL.
