Top Law Schools

Couldn't find anything relevant by searching, but my apologies in advance if this is a useless topic.

I was accepted to law school last year (2011) but wasn't able to attend so I deferred to the following year (2012). In the months that have followed, I have determined that perhaps law school isn't for me, and now I don't want to go. The deferral is binding, but I have no desire to go to law school anymore. My question is, can I withdraw my deferral, or will the school try to come after me for $$ or something since it's a binding agreement? Any help is greatly appreciated.

From my understanding, you are fine.

Deferral's are only binding if you chose to attend law school. You can't defer, then re-apply the next year to the top 14 again and see which schools take you, and go there instead. By deferring, you've told the law schol you will attend their law school the following year over any other law school.

If you have changed your mind, then I don't think you face any serious consequences; perhaps money for a reserved seat, but nothing close to a half year of tuition.

The binding deferral, unless it is dramatically different than basically every school I've heard of, just means that you have to go to that school or nowhere in 2012. Nowhere is an option, you'll just lose whatever seat deposits you've already paid.
