Generally Highly Ranked or IP Ranked Law School?

I am applying this fall and am really interested in intellectual property and especially in connection to technology, AI, the Internet, etc. There are some schools that seem to be at the forefront of intellectual property law and technology without being ranked very high in general (e.g. New Hampshire, Santa Clara). Are they even worth applying to? My LSAT and GPA will probably get me in to NYU or even Stanford, and definitely a school like BU. Should I apply to them (i.e. schools with high IP ranking but low general ranking) as safety schools? Or are they just not worth it at all? Thanks.

What was your major? If you have the money/fee waivers, then yeah, definitely blanket all the schools you'd be interested in and see what sticks. For the most part, always go with the higher ranked school when it comes to a place like NYU or Stanford compared to anywhere else.

"Specialty rankings" or anything like that are bullshit. The only thing that matters for getting a job with a firm (which is how you'll get paid the big bucks to do IP or quantum physics law or whatever thing you want to do right now) is the general prestige of the school. If you can get into a school like Stanford or NYU, then it is a much better choice for anything, anywhere in the country than New Hampshire.

If you turn down Stanford/NYU, it should be based on $$$, not specialty rankings.

Specialty rankings mean nothing.

What? No, do not take Santa Clara over Stanford under any circumstances.
