I may have to deal with an I on my transcript until december. How does this impact my chances with law schools when they see it on my transcript

first they look at your GPA and LSAT score. then they decide to admit you, waitlist you or drop you. maybe at some point, somewhere, they might look at the details if they need to sort out the waitlisters. They also look at the details when considering certain scholarships.

Really doubt one incomplete would hurt you. Maybe if there were half a dozen without a good explanation.

A buddy of mine had all I's for his first semester of JC. In his last year at a Top UC he had at least one I for each quarter. He will be attending harvard in the fall. His GPA was legit 3.9+ but he had an LSAT below the 25th percentile. And no he was not a URM. So I think your situation shouldn't be a dealbreaker by any means.

TITCR.

The joke from admission deans is they look at your LSAT and GPA and throw away the rest of your application.
