people buy case books full of highlights and side notes, so i can't imagine it would be a big deal for orientation books.
on a side note, what school do you go to that has the possibility of failing orientation?

Huh? Your school makes you buy books solely for orientation? And its pass/fail? Im confused.

Maybe his school kicks out at third of the class prior to 1L year.
