What to wear in law school?
Hi,
So I am starting law school this September and I was wondering whether law students dress differently than they did back in undergrad? For example, is it OK if I wear a hat during class like I did back in undergrad? Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question.

If you don't have a tie on everyday, you're doing it wrong.

Just make sure you take it off during morning prayer or you'll get some glares.

Men wearing hats indoors is unprofessional and tells everyone your attitude about that. Will anybody care? Nope. Well, a couple of my elderly male professors might single you out for some mockery.

Law students try really hard to dress poorly. They're really serious about not looking like gunners.

Just watch Paper Chase and dress like they did. That's how real law students dress.

I'm gonna be nice here since I asked this very same question about a year ago... the people saying you need a suit and/or tie are razzin' ya. For some reason, I imagined the same thing about law school but... you can wear whatever. Try and keep it classy of course.
For me, law school was a step down in dress. My undergrad had a no shorts policy for class. Law school was the first time I could wear shorts, it was liberating. Anyway, no need to get a new wardrobe. Just focus on the class part, don't sweat the details.

When I was an undergrad we had this guy who called himself Miles Standish. He dressed like a pirate.

Our guy was in to dragons. He wore a heavy, faux-velvet cape that was trimmed with pewter rivets. It had gold astrological signs screen printed on it.beach_terror wrote:Had one of these too lol.
