Would a school that someone applied binding ED to see that and therefore not award a scholarship since whoever applied is pretty much bound to go? Thanks.

For the most part yes. Try browsing lawschoolnumbers.com and look at the ED applicant profiles, the overwhelming majority of them don't get shit.

I have been told that (at least at Duke and UVA) ED admits go through the same scholarship consideration process as RD admits. Most people who ED do so to make up for a weakness in his or her application, and this (at least at Duke and UVA) is the reason ED admits are less likely to receive scholarships.

Michigan gave me a scholly as an ED applicant. If you have a good chance for money though it usually doesn't make sense to apply ED.

This. Its not necessarily that they've got you once you're admitted on ED, but your numbers probably just don't cut it for the cash. If you had the numbers for scholarship money at that school, you wouldn't risk locking yourself into one option. ED is an option for those who's admission is up in the air.

UVA seemed to have a need for reverse splitters (165-169 LSAT, 3.92+ GPA), so much so they offered some money off the waitlist. I just asked about it and got the "the Internet is not a reliable source of info, STFU" type response I was expecting. I applied ED...

I wouldn't be surprised if this were partially true, but the fact remains that once you're admitted ED it becomes much more difficult to use other scholarships as leverage. You might be able to do it if another school admitted you and gave you a scholarship before the ED school made their decision, but then you'd have to appeal to their sense of fairness rather than their desire to keep you in the pool.
