Work-Study Positions as 1L
I've been awarded Work-Study for my 1L year and was wondering what other people's experience with work-study as a 1L was like. I did work-study throughout my undergrad time, mostly laboratory work, and it was never a real time sucker or stressor. But I hear so many people speak of how time intensive 1L is and how you should never work and just stick to studies. If I'm simply spending around 3 hours a day working in the law library or some other similar campus job, how bad of a decision will that be for grades? Will any work-study experience help out at all in securing a summer position or whatnot?

Is it even worth it? 15 hours/week * 15 weeks * minimum wage = $1631.25 before taxes. 3 years from now when you graduate, you're going to hope your class rank is as high as possible, not that your loan balance is $4893.75 lower.

I was wondering about work study as well. Any other opinions?

I had some work-study first year. I was just sitting at the law building's security desk studying. I maybe did 45 minutes of "work" the entire semester. It was lovely.
