What else would you have done if not for law school?

So assuming you got like a 120 on the LSAT, or whatever, and basically no school accepted you, what else would you have done with your life? What other career choices or graduate degrees would you have considered, particularly if you have a useless liberal arts degree like I do.

Since I'm a history major with a minor in urban planning, I am still considering either going into teaching or urban planning if I absolutely bomb the LSAT or don't get into the schools that I want to get into. I guess my Plan B or Plan C would have to have been to get a Masters in Education, or a Masters in Urban Planning. From then on, depending what I chose, I'd either be a high school history teacher or an urban planner for some non-profit.

Of course the main reason I'm going to law is because I would much prefer doing legal work than urban planning work. As crazy as it sounds, I'd probably prefer doing simple legal tasks like reviewing unlawful detainers and paternity's than writing policy briefs and recommendations on unions and low wage labor. I'd actually enjoy being a teacher, but I'm not sure if I could see myself doing it for my entire life.

I'd post on TLS full-time, if that didn't work out for me I would have gotten my M.A in counseling psychology and become an LPC.

If you arent totally sure on what you want to do- then I would recommend taking some time off between ug and LS to pursue those options and see if you like them. It may delay you 2-3 years from starting LS, but you will be able to get firsthand experience in other career fields that interest you ( if you dont need any extra schooling) and you may find that you like it more than being an attorney, or decide against LS and go a totally different route. Or you may decide that you really want to be a lawyer and then can apply knowing that you have tried other things. It wont hurt your applications one bit, and may help give you persepctive when you are stressed out during 1st semester 1L and motivation to push through it.

A PhD in political economy or applied economics. From their I would try to become a tenure track professor at a mediocre school.

If i didnt go to law school I would have gotten my Ph.D in cognitive development and focused my research on the coorelation between chemical levels in a developing adolescents brain and the frequency and severity of emotional disabilities as well as the types of emotional responses and tried to be able to forcast the probability of the patient beins succeptable to overly agressive behavior.

I researched the topic and found out that in order to do so I would need a ton of schooling- so instead I want to focus on disability and educational law to help those kiddos out.

I was all set to open up a small burger restaurant that would do local delivery via bicycle in my touristy beach-town. My best-friend and prospective co-owner started dating this chick and went all John+Yoko so I didn't want to mingle finances with him any longer.

I sent in my application to The Real World, so I'm hoping to hear back from that. I'm putting a lot of my eggs into that basket, the MTV basket. And if that doesn't work out I'm thinking about getting a gun, and dealin' crack. Being a crack dealer. Not, like, a mean crack dealer, but like... like a nice one. Kinda friendly, like, "Hey, what's up guys? You want some crack?". I'm just kinda waiting on those two things to flesh themselves out.

Seriously though, probably culinary school. Still might go that route, who knows.

I'd probably re-enroll in undergrad and get a B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Psychology was entirely useless.

Med school or Physician Associate School. One of these might be waiting for me if I do not do well my first semester of law school.
