Top Law Schools

The topic title is kind of general, but I ask this for a specific reason. If you've spent even a brief time on TLS, you'll notice that a lot of people here are very snide and arrogant. If TLS is representative of law school, it makes me wonder how many of my classmates will be pricks as well. I'm sure that people might tone down their waspish attitudes in real life, face to face (out of cowardice), but if my future career includes so many of these types, it's looking dreadful.

I'm a rising 3L, and I'd have to say that, yeah, law school definitely attracts a certain personality type -- career-oriented, studious, competitive. Combine those traits with the self-assurance that comes with being a 22-year-old college graduate, and you have a solid foundation for what normal people would call an "insufferable dick." Most people you meet in law school probably won't be like this, at least not outwardly. But when you're stuck for three years with the ones who are, it sort of makes you wonder what the hell it is you've gotten yourself into. And thanks to the anonymity TLS affords, some of these gremlins can take smug potshots in irritating 4chan-speak at newbies asking perfectly valid questions, all without fear of actual social reprisal.

The key to preserving your sanity when dealing with these people in real life is having a social circle outside law school. I imagine the same applies to when you actually have a real legal job.

For what it's worth, I'm told that MBA programs are like law school on steroids, in terms of insufferable dickotry.

you don't think that TLS, a website dedicated to sending people to the best law schools and a site where a disproportionate number of people went to top undergrads and/or graduate programs, is a more educated sector of the internet?
