Commuting/1st Year Schedule

Post by ebl1014 » Thu May 19, 2011 8:32 am

Quick question- I am going to school in Manhattan this fall and am considering signing a lease on an apartment in Weehawken. By bus and subway, it will be about a forty five minute commute each day. I'm a study at home type person, so when I don't need library books (how often is that?) I will come home after class to do my work. The question: I have a dog that I don't want to leave at home for more than 6-7 hours each day. Will I be able to do that with that commute? On the days that I have to spend long hours in the library I can have someone come take care of him, but not every day.

Probably not. It depends on your schedule, but it's gonna be cutting the 6 hours mark close a few days a week.

I'm a 10 minute bike ride from school and there are very few days that I'm gone less than 10 hours. usually leave home at 7, and am rarely home before 5. 6 hours is nothing (especially if you're commuting for 2 of those 6). 6 hours means that if you have an 830 class, you have to leave at 730 and leave school at 1230? Honestly, that's just not going to work. You'll have morning and afternoon classes, and first year you don't get to pick when they are.

Well, hiring a dog walker and ramen noodles for every meal it is. Thanks for the input!
