M.S. Worth it (Patent)?

I'm going to be attending law school in the fall and have a B.S. in Mech Eng. I'm eventually wanting to do patent law and the school I'll be attending has a nice engineering program. They allow students to do a 4 year J.D./M.S. program. I am wondering if there is any benefit to getting an M.S. (likely in ME, but I would consider one in EE as well) for patent law? Since it takes an extra year after law school, I also wonder if it wouldn't mess up my employment stats since it seems like most firms like to hire you for 2L summer and then extend an offer for full time after 3L.
Does anyone have an experience or input regarding this?

someone working in the field recommended me to do a MS before JD, so I think it's worth it, though i kind of don't want to do that much school work (and pay extra $).

horrible idea. take all the extra time, energy, and $ u woulda spent on a MS and put it into ur JD. top grades from any 1/2 decent law school will get u any patent gig (big law or boutique) assured. on the other hand, a MSEE + mediocre law school grades wont guarantee u shit. it would be a different story if u only wanted to do bio patent prosecution, which more less requires advanced bio degress.

Can someone please describe how joint degree students are affected in terms of OCI?
In other words, are JD/PhDs and JD/MA/MS able to participate in OCI without official/unofficial drawbacks?
I'm interested in a JD/Phd (Computer Science).
