$$ off of the waitlist?

Post by NYCbound35 » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:11 pm

I have been waitlisted at several schools (Fordham, GW, UIUC, Notre Dame) and I was wondering if anyone is familiar with getting scholarship offers off the waitlist (from these schools in particular, or just in general).

Numbers are 3.0 (non HYP Ivy, science major)/169

I'm a 0L, so take that as a caveat, but having skimmed some of the WL boards, my understanding is some people do get $$ when they get in off the WL. Depends though, its a gamble.

From what I've read, you're out of luck with GW and Fordham. If you were gonna get any, which is doubtful, it would be ND or UIUC

Will you withdraw from these waitlists if they don't give you money?

I got $$$ off a waitlist but it wasn't until May or June.

I'd really like to stay in the city, so I would strongly consider Fordham even without any money. I'd probably want to see some $$ with the others though.

I was offered money coming off ND's WL (as were others) 2 cycles ago. It's possible, just depends on the school. I would say it's unlikely Fordham would do so since they don't have that much money to begin with, and I think they try to give out most of the money they have earlier in cycle. I don't know about GW or UIUC. Trying checking LSN from previous years to see when and how people from these schools were offered money.

your LSAT put you above the 75% LSAT at these schools, so you may want to wait a bit, and see what happen. If after the deposit, they feel the need of splitters, they may give you some money. Good luck.
