Before I began regularly browsing TLS, I was completely clueless about the importance of the LSAT. So clueless in fact that I had preliminarily planned to take the real LSAT completely cold. TLS turned that shit around and got me studying.

i think TLS has really helped me out a lot too brobeans. Maybe not so much on the LSAT front but on all the little parts of the application process that I wasnt aware of (like addendums and scholarship negotiation, etc.)

TLS wasn't really on the radar when I applied to law school, but I owe my career to a law school discussion site. It's part of the reason I keep coming back.

I've earned enough to know that Law School won't be the right path towards a comfortable future unless I score quite well on the LSAT. I've still got several hours to invest into studying, but I never realized how terrible the job market was for BigLaw (didn't even know what "BigLaw" referred to) and for everything else as well, except for crap like...Doc Review, and I'm not even sure what that work entails. All I know is it sucks and it pays enough to buy some Jack in the Box and pay half your mortgage.

I've also realized that my little dream of working in IP Law is very unrealistic considering I've only obtained a B.S. in Biology, and considering I'm staying local for Law Schools and Tier4 is the only real option hereabouts. Having said that, the LSAT plays a huge role in my situation. If I don't obtain a generous scholarship, I won't be attending. Therefore, the LSAT is my number priority, just as it was and is for many people who have taken the time to inform themselves with such resources as TLS.

The site has indeed made me a bit more cynical towards other Law School prospectives, though. It's a bit sad, considering I was very unrealistic as to what a J.D. really means in this day and age (and for the past few decades, apparently) only 3-4 weeks ago. Now, my perspective has shifted drastically in a much more realistic sense due to, again, the information I've soaked in from this site. Nowadays if people tell me "I'm going to Law School", I'm going to ask them where they're going and what they think they'll be doing after they graduate. More than likely, I'll refer them to that horrid New York times article or to a thread on this site.

Anywho, I like this thread, and I like the OP's story. Thumbs up dude.

Edit: In case you're curious, this is what I sounded like 3 weeks ago. "Hey TLS, I'm a new guy going to Law School soon. I have a Bachelor's in Biology and I totally wanna' work in IP Law. Question is, should I expect to make partner in less than 8 years if I know I have a totally awesome work ethic? I mean I TOTALLY LOVE technology and bio and stuff, and I wouldn't mind making $160,000 a year but being a partner would be even MORE COOLER!!! Any info is appreciated on how I can succeed and make the most of my future considering my passion in bio n' stuff! Thx gaiz!!!!"

Before tls I would have taken my 169 and likely cornell, gtown, and (maybe) mich acceptances and been ecstatic. Now I'll be retaking.

TLS also made me postpone law school to either retake the LSAT or say fuck it! I'm moving to Colorado instead!

Already have a useless masters degree, don't need a useless J.D. on top of it!
