How does bidding work?

Could someone please explain how the bidding process works for OCI? I tried searching here and on google, but didn't come up with much. I gathered the basic idea from it being mentioned a lot on TLS, but don't think I've ever heard a thorough explanation of what it is and how it works. Thanks.
My apologies if this should go under legal employment instead.

This will change from school to school.
But basically, you rank the firms you want to interview with, and there's some form of lottery that assigns you some of those interviews you wanted.

Some schools make you send resumes to firms you bid on and the firms chose whether they want to give you and initial interview.

Basically, you send in a resume, pray, and hopefully someone will want to talk to you. If not, enjoy doc review.

Most schools have a mix of pre-selects (what Megatron was describing) and lottery. Basic bid strat for dummies: rank the firms you think will pre-select you lower, depending on your confidence.
