For those of you in law school why do you think that people FAIL OUT of law schools. The question is not why do people leave law school but why are they unable to learn the material well enough for them to make the grades necessary to perpetuate themselves academically through three years worth of classes?

They realize law was never really their passion and don't want to spend three years of their life dedicated to it?

I think JAG is right. Most folks either aren't prepared, have other obligations or simply just don't want to do it.

Truthfully, the curve saves people like crazy.

Law school is tough and not for everyone. I can easily see how personal troubles could take a person right out of the game. Getting even a couple days behind could wreck a semester.

How does the curve help???

Sure. Lots of places have normalized curves, so it saves all but the bottom from getting F's. Sure, your grades might be straight C's, but you're not going to flunk you. In a class of 400, nobody failed out totally last year.

Other schools have pretty gross academic attrition rates, and I speculate this is more likely at lower ranked schools. In particular, I've heard Cooley is just brutal.

the lower the ranking the higher the attrition rate

It is true that the lower the ranking, the higher the attrition, but a chunk of that might be transfers, depending on the school, no?

Though I suppose it is schools closer to the top that actually lose more via transfer, since other schools are more likely to take them...

Just forget I posted....
