Job vs Law School

Summary
- -Ivy League UG - Economics Major
-1.5 years out of UG making 60k yearly. I'm in contention for a promotion in a few months, which would push me in the 75k+ salary range.
-Do NOT like where I currently live. In fact, I would like nothing more than to leave.
-Want to practice Corporate/Business Law in NYC, but I want to be smart about my decisions.
-NA URM, 3.25/159 (cold diagnostic was a 159
), applied to schools from Columbia/Fordham down to Rutgers-Newark near NYC
I know the smart option would be to ride out this job, but I cannot stress how much I want to leave the area.

Stay with your current job but change locations? Your numbers aren't high enough to justify leaving 60-75k a year on the table while assuming 50k a year in debt at the same time for an uncertain shot at a high paying job.

I guess this all depends on which schools you get into. Likely you will get something T25-35 even with bad numbers because you are NA. 75 a year might be worth staying considering your GPA and LSAT, just work your way up and then apply for similar positions elsewhere....

If you get into a T14, go. Otherwise, work a year and retake. Why settle with your cold diagnostic score if it's not getting you where you want to go?
IMO, Fordham is not worth the risk if you are set on biglaw, but others might disagree.

Don't leave the job unless you get into Columbia, NYU, Penn or obviously HYS.

take two more years. Live like a hermit, save as much as you can. Study study study for the LSAT. If you can get a 167-170 which is definitely doable with your diagnostic youll be looking at some really nice scholarships. Combine that with the money you save and you may not have to borrow a single dime for school (not even cost of living if you save enough). Cost and loans are really the main reason why people get so down about going to school. If you can manage to get through with 0 debt, then youll be in fantastic shape.
I know two years sounds like a really long time, but I did it, and it was totally worth it.

I would imagine they are always sought after as NA is the most under-represented minority in the U.S

Boalt is TTT for NYC big law. Cornell is a much better choice than Boalt.
V and M are pretty good for NYC but Penn is definitely better. If you are going to add MV you should add Duke, NU, and Cornell as well.

As someone who is stuck in an area they hate for a job I feel your pain. That being said if you could raise your LSAT a few points you would be golden.

If that job is remotely bearable, I personally would keep it and save money for as long as possible. Hopefully you're at the very least putting away enough to cover COL while in school. You have a golden opportunity to prepare for your long term future if you can stockpile money (and that'd give anyone peace of mind while in school).

Have you two never met? He thinks NYC is worse than Detroit, Mogadishu, and Gomorrah combined; he'd never tell someone flat out to go there for school.
