Penn - just get in an Optional + PS and you'll be fine. A contrived Why X statement can only hinder your chances.

Duke, I'd recommend it.

UVA - they're looking more for ED than the Why X statement, and they allow you to submit ED at any time until I think Feb.

I'm under review at Duke. Is it too late to submit a "Why Duke" essay?

Any other T14 other than duke really care about this? I just wrote a bad ass one that actually made me want to go go there a bit more.

really just michigan, and even then, tons of people get in without one.
