I was thinking about studying IP Patent Law, but I don't have quite the number of biology classes needed to pass Patent requirements to be certified as a Patent Attorney. Can I take undergraduate courses needed for a year or so before/during/after my JD?

I am positive you can do it before and after (even though after could be problematic).

Yes you can. At my school they don't even charge you, you can take as many undergrad classes as you want for free as long as you get permission from the Dean.
