When will UC Irvine be ranked? Don't want a debate on how well it will rank, I'm just wondering when it will be ranked? After this cycle?

It has to be accredited, so after this cycle? No. Probably not till 2013 but that is pure speculation, as most peoples answers will be.

What does it take to get accredited? Will the first few classes have to wait until the school gets accredited until they can sit for the bar?

You can still sit for the bar even if you go to a school that is not accredited. You could even get a job in CA. The problem is MOST places will not hire someone from a school that is not accredited. Now UCI is semi-different because it is a well respected school in the UC system, and will definitely be accredited within the next few years.

The big problem is when people speculate that it will be ranked in the T20 because we have no clue where it will be ranked. There is also no way it makes it above UCLA or USC as those schools have SO much more respect in CA. Again i know we dont want to get into a debate, but i would not go to this school unless you want to stay in Southern CA. If that is your goal i think its is a great option especially with their schollys

UCI has already applied for provisional accreditation. If it passes, it will be provisionally accredited starting next summer, at which point all UCI grads will be eligible to take the bar (not the baby bar) in any state. Of course, no one will have graduated from UCI by that time, so everyone will be good.

Exactly 2 years later UCI will receive full accreditation (assuming it passes all the tests, which is hardly difficult to imagine). Once the school is fully accredited it will be eligible to be ranked by US News.

FYI- the ABA team visited UCI in October and they were apparently blown away by the program (students, facilities, faculty, etc.). They were really excited about UCI and couldn't have been more effusive in their praise.

Considering the amount of useless Law Schools in the U.S., accreditation must be cake, UCI will make it.
