Top Law Schools

I am a college senior who will be graduating next June. My school does not give out the actual degrees until 3 months later. could this be a problem?

Come on man, seriously? Why, ever, would your lack of a physical paper diploma prevent any sort of opportunity? You have transcripts for that purpose.

Yeah that. Do you mean you won't literally have the piece of paper that the degree is printed on until later? Most schools work that way.

Law schools don't require you to show your framed diploma.

They ask for your transcripts showing completion of your baccalaureate program.

Some jobs (like some law enforcement jobs) actually require you to give them a copy of your physical diploma. Some even require your high school diploma too.

You can't just send your transcripts, even if your transcript clearly indicates that you graduated. If you lost your diploma, you have to get a signed note from the dean or principle verifying you graduated, or have them print a new one, and write an addendum that you lost it.

Sure, law school apps are not half that intense, but the practice does exist--in OP's defense.

I'm just saying some jobs ask for it, so asking whether or not law schools do is not a stupid question.

I actually had the same thing happen to me. I gradded in summer school, and couldn't get a diploma until my convocation in November. I still haven't sent my school my final transcripts (1L). Really the only reason it hasn't happened is because I've been too busy to remember to order one through finals/graded memo period. While the records people aren't happy with me, they aren't going to get rid of me. I represent an overall 6 figure investment.


You'll be fine, is what I'm trying to say here.

At my law school we're actually required to carry it with us at all times.

I work in law enforcement, I have a friend going through hiring processes at local and federal levels, and i've never heard of this.

I've worked in lots backgroud-investigation intensive jobs, and neither have I. In fact, I never got my physical college diploma, and I've never bothered to harass the school about it so I still don't have one.
