A soft factor.
Its something that can add to your application that isnt a number. A job, volunteer work, the school you went to, things youve done, etc etc.

I haven't applied to any school since college, and I didn't have to put much effort into my college application.

A soft is playing college ball. A hard is making it to the all star games a half dozen times and hitting close to 500 runs in the majors.
