I'm thinking a nicely placed pen between the eyes...but some of my class rooms are pretty big and I'm not sure I can accurately hit my target on the other side of the room. How have others dealt with this very serious problem?

Seriously, today I this kid kept argueing with a professor about whether or not oligopoly was effective for the financial rating systems (think s&p, fitch, moody) and 10 minutes later with the professor just saying "well empirical data says you are wrong" I say, "kid, shut the hell up."

My professor had a good one. This gunnerd was going on and on about how a concept was illogical, and, it being the third such comment of the class, the professor cut him off mid-question and said, "maybe you should have read better" and then moved on.

The other day my professor said to someone, "We're not talking about negligent omissions. You just made that up." I actually felt kind of bad, because I think the kid just confused some terms...but it was a pretty solid burn.

I was quite pleased our first two weeks of class because there didn't appear to be any gunners in my section--there were lots of people that spoke in class often, but most had something intelligent to contribute. as the days went on, there appeared to be one guy that I would see alllllways surrounding every professor at the end of class AND during breaks. I wondered how he could have so many questions in every subject.

Then...his comments started getting annoying. It was like he couldnt answer any question without getting into a long winding discussion that sounded mostly just like an opportunity to hear himself speak. Most of what he said wasnt stupid, but it just could have been said in half the time. Then he started having issues with every law and arguing ad nauseum about all the problems he has with it. If another classmate counters something he says, hed nod his head and start mumbling to himself in disgust as the person was speaking.

I believe I have no identified our sections gunner. And ok so I thought professors were supposed to be as annoyed by these ppl as everyone else is? Tell me why one of my professors constantly asks his opinion about things. Is this professor immune to his annoyingness???
