How important is it to buy the most recent edition of an E&E.

Not necessary at all, except for maybe Civ Pro, but even there the majority of stuff will be very similar. The torts and contracts ones that I have (older editions) are nearly identical to the new ones.

Yeah, generally not that necessary. If something has changed a lot in the last 4-5 years, the prof is probably going to harp on it anyways.
