I know the names of every law student I saw call a professor sir, and I recall every conversation in which they were mocked for it.

It's not that the practice itself is wrong, it's that the people who tend to do it, for whatever reason, were also amusingly sycophantic.

"Pardon me, Your Most Venerable Honor" should work.

Make sure to preface all statements with "May it please the Court..."

Sammy.

Or "Arseface."

He's tired of people licking his boots. He wants someone who will stand up to him and treat him like a PERSON and not a god in a black robe.

You can't go wrong with Judge______. I had a judge as a professor once and he was very particular about being addressed as Judge_______ whether he was in or out of the courtroom. I have known some former judges who are still referred to as Judge______ after they have left the bench. If in doubt just ask. This is a legitimate question. Some people feel very strongly about how the are addressed.

I had a prof in undergrad who was a judge, and he went by Judge ______. But, yeah, just ask. Or, won't he probably introduce himself at the first class?

I would recommend Judge _________. Judges frequently prefer to be called "Judge _______" even after they've left the bench. For example, Judge Napolitano.

You'd HOPE this is true, but in many cases is not.

What, do you go to the Douchebag (High) School of Law or something?

Had a prof with a similar title, we used either, no one cared - least of all the prof. Switch it up mang.

I had the "honor" (no pun intended) of taking two classes and an internship with an awesome county judge - in both classes we all called him "Judge X." He also teaches at a law school as an adjunct and on one of my internship days he had several of his law students come in and out of his chambers - they all called him "Judge X." It would seem odd to call him "Professor X." He's not a professor, he's a judge. Even in an academic setting he is teaching based on his expertise of being a Judge (among other things).

Definitely "Judge," especially since the chances are that he's not actually a professor (rather, he's just instructing this particular course).

There is an attorney from DC who teaches the same course every spring, and I called him "Mr. _____."
