BigLaw at Duke?

Post by sternc » Sun Jul 04, 2010 1:21 pm

Does anyone know the general percentages for getting into BigLaw from Duke in different locations? New York/Chicago/DC? Smaller markets like Dallas/Atlanta/Charlotte/Miami/etc.? I know these are always changing and subject to different variables but a general idea.

What exactly are you asking? Will Duke carry you into other markets?

It places almost 50% of graduates into Biglaw. Raleigh isn't that big, so they are all going somewhere.

I'm asking where I would need to finish at Duke to get into BigLaw in the big markets (NYC/Chicago/DC) and where I would need to finish to get BigLaw in more regional markets (Dallas/ATL/Houston).

According to the Go-To list with the most recent numbers.

No link, on my phone. But it was like 49.3%. Of course, that's just the amount of grads placed into the T250 firms. 95% of that 49% could have gone to firms 240-250.

add to that approximately 20% who self-select out of Biglaw into clerkships, boutique, CA firms/regional markets, and PI, and you can safely say that median got Biglaw.

Pretty sure it is not on the webpage. It looks like a list the administration sent out via email with the names redacted. There is a similar one for my class's (the 1Ls who are now 2Ls) summer jobs too.
