Top Law Schools

I visited a law school last weekend, and in the building there was a cart full of old (15+ years) law text books, like Contracts and Criminal Law. So I picked up a few because they were free for the taking for anybody who wanted them. My question is: is there any point in reading any of them before law school starts, even a cursory glance through some chapters?

What i've heard is that being in law school is like "learning a new language" I've had the chance to talk to a few people who are law grads and both informed its helpful to have an idea of the terms you will learn, but not to read too much and take this time to relax. I was told that Hornbooks are particuarly helpful reads. Not sure about old texts, but it wouldn't hurt i imagine.
