This is a silly question, I know, but I had to ask.

My undergrad e-mail will expire soon. What is an appropriate e-mail address on resumes (for law school and jobs)? Myname@gmail is taken. Is it ok to have myname followed by a number? Any other suggested formats?

My school also offers myname@schoolnamealumni.com (something like that). Should I stick with my school alumni e-mail?

Try messing around with initials to get your name in gmail. name####@gmail looks like something a middle schooler would choose.

Your name with a number should be fine. If you are worried, just go ahead and use your alumni email address. The main thing to remember is to keep your email professional. So long as your email isn't hoez4life@gmail.com or something equally horrifying, you will be fine.

it'll look better though if you could avoid numbers. if yourname@gmail.com is taken, try your.name@gmail.com, yname@gmail.com, yn@gmail.com, y.name@gmail.com, etc. maybe try adding a middle initial

Your only choice is to legally change your name to something gmail still has.

Oneprofessionalmotherfuckinglawstudent@gmail.com is available.

I wonder if anyone claims other people's potential Gmail addresses just to be mean.

The 0 looks least annoying to me, but did you try throwing your middle initial in there at all? That would be even less annoying.

I had to do it YourMName@gmail.com because some other asshat had the nerve to have my name.

should I go with

first.last.jr@gmail

or

firstlast.jr@gmail

as all combo's of first and last name were taken, and i am an unofficial JR (father and I have same first middle and last name, but no JR on birth certificate) these both seemed safe to me.

you could also add esq at the end of your name if firstlast is taken.
