Networking Book

Some people on here have discussed a book on networking before and there seems to be a consensus that it is a pretty good book. I can't remember the name and I can't find a thread where it is mentioned. Does anybody know what book I'm talking about. I want to read it this summer.

Yep that's it, thanks.

Keith Ferrazzi is the author. I'm a complete fanboy.

Someone else highly recommended Guerrilla Tactics but I can't recall what thread that was in either. I think it was Matthies that recommended it. Possibly not. Just ordered it from amazon and tried shopping around for a better price but amazon definitely has the lowest price I could find. Also, the book is out of print so I'd pick one up when you can.

Edit: It was Matthies that recommended it.

Yeah are we sure you aren't Keith? I've seen you endorse it about 10 times on here haha... But thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to get it.

Now that you mention it, I recall that one too. Thanks

Haha well this won't help you think I'm not Keith, but I'm also doing his Relationship Masters Academy (I place a huge value on the ability to network). It's only in the pilot stage so its $300 because he needs trial-run people, whereas after this pilot it's being upped to $3000.

That's it. 1400 pages of pure job-finding goodness. Definitely reading this summer. Note that the Look Inside version is the 1997 edition which is only 550 pages. I thought about buying the much cheaper older edition but decided against it considering the huge increase in information in the most recent copy. Borders is selling the 2008 edition for $40 because it's on back-order.

How is How to Win Friends & Influence People? I'm about to order Never Eat Alone and am wondering if Win/Friends is worth getting since it won't affect the shipping charge by much.

Let me put it this way...How to Win Friends & Influence People is to Networking what Wealth of Nations is to Economics.

Nope. It's actually Arizona St.

Oh, and by the way... when I say that How to Win Friends is like Wealth of Nations, I mean to say that just as Wealth of Nations is a bit outdated, some of the principles may no longer be true, and the ideas espoused have been expanded upon in subsequent literature, How to Win Friends exhibits the same flaws. However, it stands the test of time as the foundational work in its genre and is well worth your time.

The Guerrilla Guide is great, it should be required reading ITE. I've been getting recommendations on networking books from MBA friends. I recently borrowed this (funny cover, great content):

Guerlla Tactics is great definitely get that. Never eat alone is ok, he just name drops the whole time and the guy networks well because he went to yale and HBS, so of course people are gonna want to talk to him.

I just finished reading The Opportunity Maker: Strategies for Inspiring Your Legal Career Through Creative Networking and Business Development. Kindle edition was only $10.

It was okay, and worth a read if you can find it at your library; definitely geared more towards those looking to go solo or another "path less traveled" (vs. biglaw). And, maybe it was his examples, but I got the feeling it was geared more towards grads of lower ranked schools. That sounds sort of condescending, I know, but I read the book and you didn't so STFU.

Still, reading it made me feel good about going to law school (a nice break from TLS) and gave me sort of a "forest through the trees" perspective on managing my (as yet to begin) career. I will probably implement some of the author's (sometimes obvious) tips on how to achieve the goals he talks about.
