Top Law Schools

I'm looking for an informal list of books that would be good for law school (more on the background or broader understanding, I'll learn law in class), for being an adult who is beginning the path to being a professional (love books like fast food nation, Omnivore's Dilemma), and for sounding interesting or having a number of discussion topics that help in getting laid.

I suggest Suburban Nation (can't remember author..) or Guns, Germs & Steel by Jared Diamond.

Not law-related, but bringing up either would make you immediately layable (To me, anyway. If you're a girl. Or if you're a dude who's awesome enough to unlesbianize me.)

I read about half of Guns, Germs, and Steel and thought it was pretty good. I was a freshman in college while going through it, so perhaps that explains why I may have thought it was decent (and also why i only got through half )

I was thinking about getting Guns, Germs, and Steel because I think I could use something related to history. Is this a good way to go?

Cultural or political essays would be cool.

as far as non fiction history/anthropology it can't be beat. One of my favorite books ever. By the end of it you'll feel like you just crammed a whole anthropology degree inside your head (probably justifiably too).

(but it won't help you get laid, but it has a better chance than gideon's trumpet)

Have you guys ever read the What If? books? I really enjoyed those. They're a collection of essays by historians on what the world would be like if certain events had come out another way. The first one is focused on military history (IE, what if Alexander had died at 21 instead of 32), and the second is general history (IE, what would modern philosophy look like if Sophocles had been killed in battle). Good times.

I own the first two and read part of the first one. Pretty interesting stuff.
