Top Law Schools

How many of you have finished acceptances, financial aid and what-not, and have found a place to stay?

Any general advice for those of us applying next year about looking for a residence? I'm coming from Ireland, and won't have the chance to check out a the Law School's campus and living arrangements, so I was hoping TLS would vicariously provide me with suggestion on finding a place to live. (I realize this question can't really be answered in detail till I know where I'm going)

On average though, do you know if Law Schools have dorms for their new students? Also, any recommendations for agencies that find housing for new students unable to travel and find their own heaven of the academic year? I figure it's something I should look into, seeing as applications for 2011 aren't THAT far away, and living circumstances do affect your choice of admission.

The best I can think of would be to contact the schools you're planning on applying to and asking. Not all schools have housing for law students, but some do (like Michigan).

I realize this might be difficult for you, but I can only advise against going to a place that you haven't visited. Honestly. I would've made a huge mistake had I not spent the money to visit the school I though I was going to go to. Do everything in your power to make a visit first.

I would say just post in the "X School of Law Class of 2014" thread. Chances are you can find at least one current student on here or at least someone familiar with the area. Also google maps is pretty great. You can figure out how far away you will be from your future institution of learning and you can even look at the street level view to get an even better sense of the area (i.e. are there sidewalks all the way up the school from my place?). Also, a lot of schools have an admitted students facebook page that you can post on to find roommates and such.

Might check facebook groups for your law school and your law school's class.
