Penn prestige?
I was looking through autoadmit and saw that Penn gets a lot of hate and a lot of people say it isn't prestigious. In Miami people are always extremely impressed by Penn (including lawyers at big firms) so I'm wondering where this comes from. Is Penn looked down upon in other places compared to the rest of the T14?

I've never heard of Penn being under estimated in terms of prestige. That doesn't seem to be the opinion around here.

Yeah OP, I agree with the above poster. I would say it's just as prestigious as the other two big ten schools (NU and Michigan) and it has the best football team of the three. Don't listen to autoadmit.

Re: Penn prestige?
It's more prestigious than all but 9 other law schools in the entire country. What more do you need?

Penn is just behind the top 6 and equal to Michigan/Virginia/Berkeley in prestige.

I had to tell my mother that it is an ivy league school. Everyone who doesn't know higher education (or legal education) thinks that it either is identical to Penn State, or it is a state school roughly equivalent to Penn State. That's just the way it is. Luckily, employers understand full well that it is a top law school.

It's a great school, but I honestly didn't know anything about it or that it was an ivy until I started researching law schools.

My family assumed it was a no-name state school, but my peers (and legal employers) recognize it as a top law school, and an ivy to boot.

Here because in addition to generally talking about how awesome Duke is, I like to talk about how awesome Penn is on occasion. Not because I went there or anything, but because I like the campus and Philly.
