Top Law Schools

IYO, what courses from UG match the atmosphere of law classes? For example, are they similar to the rote memorization of dates and facts followed by in-depth discussion, like a seminar? Or is more like a lecture class with less individual participation? Or is it nothing like UG at all?

It is nothing like UG at all, unless you somehow had a class taught by socratic method.

It depends on the professor. I took a "Constitutional Law" class in UG and the professor made every effort to teach it just as an actual law school class would have been taught. He definitely used the socratic method, we definitely had to read about 40 pages before each class, and although the final wasnt the only determinant of our grades, it was worth about 70%.

After reading stuff on here, it seems like it was as close to a law class as I could have experienced.

My favorite prof taught all in Socratic method. I loved it so I'm excited about law school. If you went to small UG then a lot of the profs teach that way. If you are in a giant school with mostly lecture courses then not so much.

Word. I go to a pretty small UG, so it's hard to get by in class without doing the reading and participating in class discussion.

this. I can't remember the last assigned reading i actually read from beginning till end.

I read a lot of opinions in my con law classes. We even read a couple of old law review articles (the hypos were good).

Nothing in college will prepare you for law school. They can give you an interest and show you what a case is, but that's not necessary, and the intense competition / stress / brutal, curve-generating exams are a uniquely law school animal.
