Did anyone receive the Law Preview brochure that talks about the 1 week class that they offer, etc.? Anyways they also have a 1 day class option that goes over legal research and writing. Do you guys know if doing this is worth $200 given whatever benefits this might offer? Btw I've been out of school for a couple of months so I think doing something like this could be a good refresher for me personally. Any thoughts, thanx?

Don't do these classes. Waste of time and money. Every minute you spend relaxing during the summer will be more valuable than every minute you are in said classes.

No, the class is not worth it at all. If you're interested in better legal writing for a few things you can do before you start (not that you should want to):
1. take old papers you've written, and practice making them about 3/4 as long without cutting any of the ideas. Focus on eliminating wordy phrases that use a lot of prepositions.
2. read a few books on logical thinking for lawyers.
3. read a few real memos.

Nope. Not worth it. Give me the $200, and I'll hold it for you until the fall. >.>

The class was very helpful for me because I was a couple of years out of school and concerned about my writing. I wanted an overview of the process and, over the course of eight hours, I left with a solid framework for what the first year would be like. I still have the workbook (Law Preview Legal Research & Writing, 3rd Edition, 2007) we used and I'm willing to sell it now that my writing course is over, thank god. Let me know if you're interested.

It's not worth it because every professor/employer is going to want something different. Learn to write the way your professor wants you to and you will do fine. When you get a job, you are going to have to learn how to write all over again.

Just got an e mail about these "preview courses" and it looks like a scam. So I'm requesting anecdotes from this community, why not?

If it is taught by Antonin Scalia, consider it. Otherwise, find a girl to split a fifth of bourbon with.
