I am currently studying undergrad in a UK university, it's among the top 10 unis in the country and a degree from my uni is very much respected among the local employers and graduate schools. However the problem is that it's virtually unknown outside of the UK, due to its location in an old, small town. I know that most US schools would recognise Oxford/Cambridge but would it make a huge impact whether they've heard of my uni or not? and would it affect how they look at my grades?

I don't think it will make too much of a difference, as long as you did well (and do well on the LSAT). But if your school is top ten, it's likely that an admissions officer has at least heard of it. I studied abroad in the UK (at a small school in maybe the top 30), and a number of Americans (mostly professors) have been familiar with it.

Prestige of undergrad makes very little difference. Oxbridge might give a tiny advantage similar to being a HYPSM undergrad in the US, but otherwise it doesn't matter at all. You won't be at any disadvantage for applying from what I'm guessing is St Andrews.

St Andrews? Didn't Prince William graduate from there? If that is the school you are talking about, I doubt you need to worry about undergrad reputation.

I've heard of it; but I considered going to school in the UK and researched the top schools there. I don't believe you should worry about name recognition, as people who went to Tier4 undergrads in the US are able to get accepted at Top10 law schools.

If I were you I'd take one online class at an American school and get an A in it. That way you'll have a 4.0 American gpa.

Ok.... What if it wasn't England, but instead you went to an undergrad program in say Japan? English language faculty, top 5 school. Plus or minus, I wonder...
