I used to think this, until I saw that a lot of people submit addenda drawing attention to upward trends and bad semesters. I was wondering if this was sort of a similar issue.

Well, discussing bad semesters and upward trends are worth talking about because they help explain away a bad GPA. Unless your GPA is bad you shouldn't need to say anything.

Nobody cares two shits if it took you 3 or 7 years.

They won't care. I was a 5th year, and it never came up.

UG took me 10 years and it doesn't seem to be affecting my admissions. I worked FT and got married and had kids during that time. I didn't write an addendum because that information was available elsewhere in my application - on my resume, PS, etc.

I think it is actually becoming more common for Bachelor's degrees to take 5 years to complete.
