I have noticed many people posting about their GPA's being destroyed or inflated by LSDAS, so I was wondering what is the biggest difference that you have seen?

My friend is graduating with a 4.0, but his LSADS is 2.7. He racked the low GPA after 6 years of goofing off at a junior college. His undergrad doesn't factor transfer credits into GPA, and he has had all As since transferring. So, he will graduate suma cumme laude but will apply with a 2.7... sucks!!

woah, I had no idea there could be such a huge gap between LSDAS and UGPA. Kinda makes you wonder about the integrity of the system.

(Still wishing my UG gave out A+'s...)

A lot of schools don't count transfer credits into GPA.

I dropped two tenths of a point. I don't know why.

I feel for people who screwed by W's that tank their GPA, but not for people who did two terrible years then transferred and have their degree gpa wiped clean by a transfer.

Mine doesn't either, and I've been wondering about the mathematical soundness of a grading system that doesn't reward 97+, but punishes 93-. I'm not a math person, but it just seems counterintuitive, not to mention it puts your students at a competitive disadvantage. I thought the idea was to try to put your alums in the best possible position to be successful. Guess I'm just naive...
Any class you can get 97% correct isn't a real college course.

HTH

I didn't know Ws hurt your LSDAS GPA. I have a few Ws, but my GPAs are the same.
I don't completely understand it, but in some cases LSAC counts a W as an F. Hell I used withdrawing as a wild card. I'd withdraw from one class a semester after my first mid term. But UIUC wouldn't even list them on my transcript.

Maybe not, but uniformity seems necessary.
I actually agree that A+'s should be 4.0 for LDAS GPA. A+ isn't even a real grade.

The biggest gap is going to come from someone who failed all their classes at a CC and eventually transfered to another school where those credits did not count in their GPA.
