After such an influx of apps this year, I assumed that they wouldn't even think of this. So, why have ED and regular app deadlines been extended?

More application fees
Lower acceptance rate

I know that's the initial thinking but it might be more complex than that.

Iowa has put a lot of people on hold and into second review and also extended their application deadline from March to April 1. This was after they apparently complained/bragged that apps were up 60%.

I think that puts things in a different light.

So their apps are up 60%, they can't even review the ones they already have in time, yet they still invite 1 more month of applications? Sounds exactly like what I said.

Or......

They're not very pleased with the people who have applied.

Or......

Apps were up 60% initially then drastically slowed down.

Or......

You're partially right but its only 1 of maybe about 5 different reasons as to why they did it.

I'm just saying, I think there could possibly be more to it than just simple money-grubbing. Reducing it to that is simple but it might not tell the entire story.

Yeah, it could also be that law schools know that this is an especially competitive cycle, so many people might throw in last-minute applications after they got rejected or waitlisted from better schools. So law schools are holding out for those better candidates.
