studying in law school

Post by echoi » Tue Feb 02, 2010 8:19 am

can any 1-3Ls comment on what the studying is like in law school? how much of your study time is spent straight memorizing information vs. studying for understanding, analysis, making connections, etc.? is memorizing even a worry when you're allowed an outline on exams?

I'm asking because I HATED straight memorization tasks in undergrad and i'm hoping to say bye to flash cards forever.

I didn't do any memorizing for my fall exams. I will probably do a little bit of memorizing for one class this semester where the final is closed book. You need to know enough law in your head to be able to see where the issues & ambiguities in a question are, but you don't need to have all the rules memorized.
