Is Vandy worth it at sticker? Presume for the east coast from say Georgia to New England.
EDIT: Wow, I am an idiot. That was an embarrassing misspelling right in the title.

Yes for MD down south. Above Phila might be a little more difficult and anything west of Miss River puts you in greater difficulty.

If you aren't interested in corporate law in Atlanta, Tenneseee, or Florida then no. If you are then it's still pushing it.

Just out of curiosity, is that out of principle, or do you feel that there is a functional difference in your debt load?
I ask because I'm not sure I see any significant difference (in terms of loan repayment schedules) between paying sticker at NYU or going to NYU with a 10k/year grant. (Obviously, you may not want to go to NYU with 30k either.)

NYU is a fantastic law school. However, I have absolutely no desire to work in NYC, and if I don't go to Chicago, I want a school with name-brand recognition/lay appeal since I hope to run for local/state/nat'l office on day. Also, as I plan on practicing in Chicago I'd go to Michigan over NYU in any case.

So unless your LSN profile is off, as of now you will be choosing to attend W&M, because that seems the only place that gave you $?

Right, NYU was just an example. I was just wondering what the difference at any law school is between sticker and merit aid that only reduces your debt load from 180k to 150k.

Most top schools don't mention $$ until March-ish. A 172 3.2 URM got the full Dean's scholly at UVA. I'm thinking they can give my 2.7 around half-tuition, maybe?

Oh okay. Well yeah, in your example, 10K/yr is a paltry sum.

I think it depends what your other options look like and what it is you want to do. I would probably pay it.

The school is named Vanderbilt. If you can't spell a school's name correctly, I doubt you can get in. How many people that applied to Colombia Law School were admitted?

Assume regional 20-40's like Emory, UGA, UNC, George Mason would be substantially cheaper. Vandy just seems perfect barring the absurd amounts of debt (looks like $180k at least over 3 years as opposed to closer to $110ish at various regionals).

Wow, I know it's a competitive time of the year but chill out. It's an anonymous forum, he/she was probably rushed when he/she posted it. I made a huge typo in a few posts when I wrote cardoza, but on my application I wrote Cardozo.

I've been wondering the same thing, but with Cornell (half scholly at ND vice sticker at Cornell). I'm thinking no.

+1.
Vandys a great school, but people seem to that its rise in the rankings is very recent after the school threw a bunch of money at the law school (thats not meant to be an insult, I loved how upfront the administration was about everything).
When it comes to corporate law anywhere outside of those places Kurama mentioned, Vandy hasn't really gotten a lot of grads in place to start networking and really spreading the word for the school.

I have the distinct feeling that this is going to be a very useful thread for a LOT of people. Thus any information/advice offered will likely be invaluable not just to me but to others this cycle (and beyond). Also waiting for Observationalist to drop some knowledge.
