In the history of the T14s I'm sure they've accepted a few applicants with really really low numbers for various reasons (important alumni children, amazing softs, etc). Not really sure why the OP cares.slider wrote:Source?Pearalegal wrote:Yale accepted someone with a 152 last year.

ok..... because the average Havard LSAT score is 171.... Obama's score can be estimated to be 171? WOW.
That logic is flawed even before you consider the fact that he is an URM with an interesting back story and the writing ability to truss it up so that it's even more interesting.

Yale's own website. Don't remember the link, but they also gave a list of UG's, previous careers, etc.slider wrote:Source?Pearalegal wrote:Yale accepted someone with a 152 last year.

yale has a LSAT / GPA matrix on LSACs website - I think they are the only t14 that lists theirs.

LSAT is only a rough estimate on how well someone will do at law school. Obama finished magna cum laude, and was President of the law review.
Whatever his lsat was, he excelled at studying law.

I can't find it now, but it was about one of those judges on tv. Anyway it mentioned they turned down Harvard when they were accepted to Georgetown, because GULC was the nations elite law school. I don't really care either way, both of their reputations are better than any where I will end up next year.rayiner wrote:Not really at all.LSATfromNC wrote:I believe Georgetown was considered the top dog back then, how times have changed.rayiner wrote:This is a dumb conversation all around, but it should be noted that back then harvard's LSAT median was like 90th percentile...

Some minorities admitted to Harvard have less than average LSAT scores. Barack Obama is a minority (sort of), and Barack Obama was admitted to Harvard. Therefore, Barack Obama's LSAT score is less than average.Due to affirmative action, however, one must reduce that score by at least 186 points.

Unfortunately. The whole... magna cum laude and president of the law review thing gets tossed out of the equation pretty quickly.OnlyLivingBoyinNY wrote:Some minorities admitted to Harvard have less than average LSAT scores. You really think Bush could score a 158? I know that for people who easily score in the 170s, a 158 looks really low - but Bush and a 158? Uh, I doubt it. I will go with the 144 guy. Also, just because someone scores in the 140s or lower on the LSAT doesn't mean they aren't intelligent - just not fit for law school in most cases.HerseyChris wrote:My guess:jmhendri wrote:Educated Guess, crazycanuck wrote:I am very curious as what G. Yea - being the President of the Harvard Law Review was some sort of affirmative selection.... Don't these people get tired of this crap?lisjjen wrote:Unfortunately. The 158's LSN profile indicates that it was through "family connections":2011Law wrote:I doubt that Yale took a 152 scorer anytime in the past few years.Drake014 wrote:In the history of the T14s I'm sure they've accepted a few applicants with really really low numbers for various reasons (important alumni children, amazing softs, etc). Re: what is the lowest lsat score ever to be accepted to a T-14?
Bush got rejected from UT with a degree from Yale, military experience, and significant experience working on multiple campaigns. I have to believe that his LSAT was less than stellar. I'm not one of those people who thinks that W. was borderline retarded, I just think that he was a person of slightly above average intelligence in a job that requires much more. He could've scored anywhere from low 150's to low 160's.
I've read conflicting things on Obama. Obviously he's pretty bright (magna cum laude from HLS, President of the Law Review). Still, some say that he got in because he was a URM with a compelling diversity statement. I'd bet that he hit at least the upper 160's, but a spectacular score wouldn't surprise me.

Obama and Bush probably scored +/- 3 points of each other, not that it matters at all.
I highly doubt Obama scored in the High 160s.
I'm sure him and Bush both scored in the Mid-Upper 150s, just like almost all test takers do.
Obama has a pretty good advantage being an URM, and by pretty good I mean ridiculously good.
I scored 450 points higher(2040) and got waitlisted at my undergrad when a fellow african-american classmate scored 1600 and got accepted. When I asked him what schools he got into and he told me UCLA I was awe stricken. I was genuinely happy for the kid till he made it seem like UCLA was some piece of shit school that he wasn't even considering and it was my dream to go there and I had higher GPA, higher SAT score, tons of extra curricular etc. etc.
Point is: Check the African-American box on applications.

If Obama went to some school ranked in the 30s, you could maybe argue his score couldn't have been that high - because with AA, he would've gotten into a better school if it had been. As it is, he went to the one of THE best law schools in the nation, so even if he had scored a 180 he would've likely attended HLS anyways. Could he have been AA boosted in? Certainly. Does that mean he was? No. Maybe this is a novel concept to you, but there is such a thing as an intelligent, educated black man.
Also, I completely don't understand the logic behind Vox Populi's reasoning here:
Obama graduated from my mother's alma mater, where everyone takes the various college prep tests. He was not a National Merit Scholar, a National Merit Semifinalist or an Outstanding Participant. This indicates a ceiling on his SAT percentile at 96.9, which indicates a maximum possible SAT score of 1230 and maximum IQ of 129.

Re: what is the lowest lsat score ever to be accepted to a T-14?
Given that he seemed to have been an excellent student at HLS for all the reasons mentioned above and his ridiculous eloquence (which i take to be an indicator that one is intelligent), I think it is fair to assert that Obama did well (read: 170+) on the LSAT. Not to mention the LSAT is a test that can be learned if you are good at that type of thinking. He seems to be very coldly logical, and I would wager that he had the work ethic to crush it.
I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he scored how you would expect an HLS student to score.

You know, extrapolating how well Bush and Obama did on the LSAT is something that:
1) We cannot do because of insufficient information
2) Fucking stupid because it doesn't matter

Shouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house, and if you want to talk about how "fucking stupid" something is, you should spend less time on TLS talking about video games and/or prove that video games matter.
I do agree that we can't ever intuit their scores, but some still consider it an interesting question.
PS: Anyone that could fake the 9/11 attacks had to have scored a 180 on the LSAT.
