Although Munger is by far the most popular living option for incoming SLS students, it is by no means the only option. Many couples (especially those with children) choose to live in the family-friendly Escondido Village. An overview of housing options for law students is available here. Living off campus close to the university is hella expensive, but necessary in certain situations (e.g. you own a pet that is not a companion or service animal).

Same!
I'm definitely going! Do you guys have any idea when we'll get financial aid information?
I'm not sure but I really can't wait. Are you guys sure you're going to SLS, or are you waiting on financial aid? It's my top choice but really horrible financial aid could make me change my mind, I guess.
Also does anyone know whether they negotiate? Since they're need-based, I imagine they don't, right?
Aid will def be a factor. Does anyone have any idea if HYS gives out very similar aid? And yea I doubt we can negotiate since it's need-based

I feel the same way as you bgt1995, aid is definitely a factor, just because it has to be, but I honestly can't see myself turning SLS down. I am so so freaking excited to go there. But if I somehow got $0, I would definitely have to think very long and hard about it. From perusing the previous years threads I think we'll start to learn in mid-March.
I have heard you can actually negotiate, but only anecdotally from one SLS alum, so I have no idea if it's true. She encouraged me to reach out to Faye/financial aid and ask but I don't really feel comfortable doing that.

So is SLS your top choice over H and Y? I think it might be mine, but I haven't visited any of them so I'm not sure...
^in a similar situation as you. Got a JS1 and am in at Y, but I'm leaning towards Stanford. I'm from CA, want to work here long term, and went to Y for undergrad, so I'd rather stay in CA + experience something different

I'm in an interesting place where my numbers (168/3.99) were good enough for the blackbox of Stanford, but not for H or Y, and not enough to get a full ride or significant money at any of the other T6. Even if I did get H though I would easily choose SLS, I'm from Boston originally so I want something new. So I just don't think I'll get a good enough offer from anywhere else to tempt me away from SLS. It's a new area of the country, fantastic programs for what I want to do (IP/environmental), and practically guarantees a job in whatever I want. So basically I'm just waiting for the fin aid package to confirm it.

Yea with all that being said, SLS completely makes sense for you regardless of financial package

I RSVP'd but I think I remember requesting the student host option
Hmmm, I guess it's not available anymore. I'm looking at the RSVP form and there's no option to request a student host. Did you go through the welcome page link?
